New Legislation
Here are some of the newest bills that passed in Congress. Its kind of slim pickens because Congress is more concerned with the illegal wiretaps and the confirmation of “Scalito”. All Info was gathered from Congress.org. Visit the website or contact me with any questions.
Senate
Department of Defense Appropriations Act, FY2006 -Passed 12/21/05
-This is just a basic budget vote, but it was an overwhelming majority. 93-0
Perhaps more questions should be asked as it comes to the budget for the US defense.
Tax Relief Act of 2005- Passed 11/18/05
-Probably won’t do anything, republican tax cuts rarely do
Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act
-Passed 9/22/05 This should help out veterans ad the agencies that help veterans. Maybe it will undo what the Bush admin did to hurt veteran’s benefits.
House
Online Freedom of Speech Act- Failed 11/02/05
-to amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to exclude communications over the Internet from the definition of public communication 11/02/05
Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act – Passed 12/17/05
-with a Senate amendment, to provide for the collection and maintenance of human cord blood stem cells for the treatment of patients and research, and to amend the Public Health Service Act to authorize the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program
